We will review writing in communication settings using Paul V. Anderson’s text. There will be a menu of assignments that each student can choose from and each will complete three of the tasks throughout the course. Deadlines will be in the Sections listed for Assignments and Readings. Select from the following menu of items. I chose option number one:
Find a client & complete two projects for them during the semester. You could for example write a press release for them and also write a memo to the company suggesting a way to improve some aspect of the business operation.

BEAR LAKE PIZZA PROUDLY ANNOUNCES REVAMPED COMPANY WEBSITE.
Bear Lake Pizza also revamps its social media accounts.
Garden City, Utah – July 16, 2019 – Bear Lake Pizza hired three website designers to improve both their company website and social media accounts. The website designers were hired to promote the business and increase sales. The three media specialists made several changes to the company’s website, including:
The decision to improve the company’s website came from Bill England, the business’s current owner and manager. England explained why he hired the three website designers in an interview with the local television news station.
“After meeting with a few media specialists, they convinced me that an improved company website would help grow the business’s awareness and increase sales,” said England. England continues, “I hope these three new hires will continue to do a great job with the website and with the social media accounts. So far, so good.”
One of the three hired website designers, David Johnson, was also interviewed by the local television news station. A news journalist asked Johnson about what he thought was the most critical change to the company’s website. Johnson’s comments drew more attention to the social media accounts rather than the actual company’s website.
“The company website underwent several changes. However, I felt like improving the social media accounts, especially the Bear Lake Pizza Facebook webpage, is the thing that will raise their online presence and therefore, their sales.” Johnson also said, “Social media connects people to your business in a way that is just so social…We will continue with the company’s website, but social media is still essential.”
Although England did not talk about sales numbers and percentages, he did provide information about the businesses hopes and ambitions. The dreams and objectives revolve around, keeping customers happy, and keeping up with restaurant trends.
“Bear Lake Pizza’s ambition is to implement policies that keep customers happy, keep up with current restaurant trends...we want to be the best pizza in Bear Lake,” said England. England continued, “Our business has been going great, and I hope the business will continue to maintain an atmosphere where families feel safe and secure.”
Bear Lake Pizza is currently experiencing its busiest time of the year, summer. However, the business still invites people to visit the restaurant and enjoy great food.

Bear Lake Pizza is a small, yet successful business located in scenic Bear Lake Utah. It is currently owned and managed by an older, married couple named Bill and Barbra England. It is not a chain owned restaurant, but it is locally owned, and mostly family operated. The business has successfully soled pizzas for over 20 years. The busiest time of year, by far, is during the summer months. The company will always maintain a customer-centered perspective, which is precisely what makes it so successful.
