BANNOCK COUNTY - A man has pleaded not guilty in connection with the deaths of three people in Oneida County. Severo Luera Jr. has been charged with with conspiracy to commit murder and three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree murder. Two years ago, Brent Christensen, Trent Christensen and Yvette Chivon Carter were shot in a home in Holbrook. Two young children were discovered in the home the next day. Police say there were more than 60 pit bulls and was a marijuana growing operation on the property.
KETCHUM - Several big projects are brewing on Ketchum’s Main Street which are expected to modernize the city and boost tourism. Two incoming hotels, the Warfield Distillery, and Zions Bank will bring added jobs and a fresh source of money to the city, officials say. According to the Idaho Mountain Express the Limelight Hotel is expected to open November 2016 and Auberge (O-Bear-zsh) Resorts late 2017.
MEMORIAL DAY - AAA says that 37 million travelers are on the roads this holiday weekend. That’s over 5 percent more than last year. AAA also says because gas prices are relatively low travelers feel they can travel longer distances. This is expected to be the highest travel volume for a Memorial Day in 10 years. and most drivers have paid the lowest Memorial Day gas prices in at least five years.
IDAHO FALLS - The Bonneville School District’s $56.1 million to build a new high school has failed, again. The district had opted to to re-run the bond that failed by a slim margin in March. In a repeat of that vote, the bond failed to get the necessary supermajority needed to pass by less than one percentage point. Superintendent Chuck Shackett says the district may ask for a recount. The bond would have funded a third high school in the crowded district.
REXBURG - Statistics released for Spring Semester 2015 at Brigham Young University-Idaho show a total campus enrollment of 13,742 students, an increase of 6.3 percent over last spring's campus enrollment (of 12,931). The on campus student body consists of 49.2 percent male and 50.8 female. BYU-Idaho's online courses and degree programs is also growing rapidly, with the university continuing to serve more students off campus than on campus. The number of enrolled students not on campus for Spring Semester 2015, including online and Pathway students, is 16,171, an increase of 38.4 percent compared to this time last year. For Spring Semester 2014 that number was 11,687.

MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WYO. - Rangers in Yellowstone National Park rescued a New York tourist who stumbled backward into a canyon while trying to take a picture. The 71-year-old man tumbled about 25 feet Sunday evening before he stopped his fall by bracing his body and feet against a small crevice in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Officials say the man was extremely lucky because he stopped himself just short of a 200-foot drop. A park rescue team then pulled the man back to the rim using ropes and pulleys.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, WYO. (AP) - A wildfire burning in the central part of Yellowstone National Park continues to grow and has burned about 2 square miles. However, since the fire isn't threatening any park buildings or putting visitors at risk, fire managers are letting it burn. The fire about 10 miles west of Fishing Bridge. The fire was started by lightning on Wednesday. It is the biggest of two fires burning in Yellowstone. The second is burning on a peninsula at the south end of Yellowstone Lake and has burned 16 acres. The fire danger in Yellowstone National Park is currently rated "high."

The analysis focused on fatal crashes, car thefts, average commute times, gasoline spending, repair costs and insurance premiums. Idaho had the 2nd-lowest insurance costs in the country, the 4th-lowest gasoline spending and repair costs that were slightly below the national average. Idahoans are however involved in fatal crashes at a higher rate than the national average.

With four months left in the calendar year, the park is on track to have one of its highest visitation years on record. Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk said he is surprised by the size of this year’s increase and is excited to see the growth continue.

The organization counts more than 700 physicians and physician assistants across the state as its members. In a recently published position paper, it cites concerns that legalizing medical marijuana at the state level would subvert the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's drug approval process.
